Kink Engineering is a latex vacuum bed, costume and bondage toy manufacturer based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The brainchild of two trained engineers with latex fetishes and a desire to re-design and improve on existing bondage devices, the company specializes in vacuum beds, vacuum cubes and custom bondage gear. Their products are showcased at various fetish parties around the world. Recently Bianca Beauchamp has done photo sets with their Fashion Gas masks.
The company was founded in 2008 by Mad_Scientist, a mechanical engineer and his partner Archean who is a material science engineer and budding latex model. Kink Engineering's main focus is to provide top-of-the-line products in terms of both design and aesthetic. They currently offer the widest range of custom options when compared to other vacuum bed manufacturers.
Vacuum Beds
The vacuum beds made by Kink Engineering are leak-proof with either top or bottom entry. Due to their novel closure mechanism and the provided one way valve, they keep their seal even when the vacuum cleaner is turned off and can be made at lower cost than other airtight beds.
Trying to combine aesthetics with vacbeds, Kink Engineering has started offering Ego Assassin prints on their vacbeds. Wave print, DNA print and many other styles are available. Beds are available in any color combination (various colors for both top and bottom), with various latex thicknesses available for both top and bottom sheets. The company shares an online store with www.sheetlatex.com so they have access to the entire stock of Sheet Latex International.
By varying the thickness of the top and bottom sheets of latex, it is possible to create a wide range of sensations for the restrainee. Thinner top sheets will provide greater sensations, while thicker top sheets will provide greater immobility.
Designs
The beds were originally designed as a hobby for Mad_Scientist and his partner. Due to his partner's severe claustrophobia, a neck gasket was incorporated to avoid full-body enclosure. Kink Engineering has developed different breathing systems for their vacbed products including everything from a simple reinforced hole, to multiple tubes (for multiple people to use the bed at once) to gasmasks and specially shaped open face and closed face masks. These options allow the customer to select the amount of enclosure and comfort they requre.
Kink Engineering also runs a design log on Tumblr called "Makin' Latex", with the aim of helping latex fetishists explore how to design better bondage toys. The design log takes a look at toys that Kink Engineering has played with, their strengths and weaknesses and how to improve the design. It also details their design procedure for developing new and innovative bondage toys and increasing the durability of pre-existing latex bondage devices.
Kink Engineering is currently working on designing suspension vacuum beds, and wall-mounted vacuum beds for photographers.
