| A neck corset is a type of collar designed to restrict a wearer's head movement. They are similar to a posture collar except that a neck corset tends to be more closely fitted to the contours of the wearer's neck, and the rigidity of the piece is provided by nylon or steel boning. Neck corsets can be low, allowing the wearer to turn their head somewhat but not lower it; they can be high, preventing the wearer from either lowering or turning their head; they can be very high, incorporating mouth coverings and/or gags. A number of manufacturers make hoods with integrated neck corsets, creating a highly effective head restraint device.
