Marquis (Magazine)
Marquis Magazine was a fetish magazine that ran from 1994 to 2015. It was owned, operated, published and primarily photographed by Peter W. Czernich that was produced in Germany. It was published in both German Language and English Language editions.
Started after losing the specific title of his earlier magazine «O» after a legal dispute with Oprah Winfrey, Czernich relaunched his flagship magazine under the new title as a reference to the historical Marquis de Sade. While noted for its specific inclusion of the BDSM subculture, Marquis Magazine evolved to be more inclusive of other fetish subcultures rather than a specific niche BDSM area. The specific interest in the latex fetish subculture inspired Czernich to develop a second magazine specific to that area under the title of Heavy Rubber, though Marquis Magazine also addressed this area in its pages as well, but not as intensely or as the main topic.
Marquis Magazine also featured and promotes Czernich's other products including Marquis Films and Marquis sponsored events and spokespersons in its pages.
Marquis Magazine was originally semi-annual but was later released quarterly. From 2009, Marquis Magazine also had a Russian edition, released quarterly in free PDF format. It was published in Saint Petersburg by Fetish Studio.
In 2010, Julien and Marilyne, the organizers of the Bal des Supplices restarted Marquis France, proposing a French version of the famous magazine. For this occasion, they launched the Miss Marquis France contest, electing the best French-speaking Fetish Model. The first winner was Rack Framboise.
In 2015, Peter and his wofe Bianca Czernich announced that they were separating and that in consequence the magazine would be discontinued.
