Top (BDSM)
Top (BDSM) a slang term used in BDSM circles to refer to the dominant partner or controller in the relationship. The term is suggested to be rooted in the understanding of sexual positions where usually the more powerful member remains "on top" of the weaker partner during sexual intercourse. Some state the term came out of a more vulgar term referring to lesbian relations where the more aggressive partner was "top dog of the pile" (i.e, the butch) of the relation.
The complementary term of Bottom refers to a controlled / submissive partner of the Top.
The term Clackers usually refers to a supposedly balanced BDSM couple who share equally in the relation where there is no specified dominant (top) or submissive (bottom). The term is accredited to originate from the old plastic ball toy where both balls had to have the same amount of force applied to both balls to swing the two balls to collide with each other to be kept in motion.
